The world's 17th women's singles from Japan, Sayaka Sato, becomes the new champion of BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2017.

The 26 year old player takes the highest throne in this event after getting rid of the fifth seeded Korean Sung Ji Hyun in final, Sunday night (18/6), with 21-13, 17-21 and 21-14.

"It is tough in every match. I had a chance to lose but I won. My opponent's face looked tense in the second game, I tried to gain point after point but I had to lose first," Sayaka said.

"I was also exhausted but the opponent also felt the same way. The coach encouraged me until I finally won," Sayaka said.

This is Sayaka's first title after she had rather average achievements for several years.

"I could not play well for two years and I never won, but I ended up winning, and I'm happy to get the title here," he said.

In 2010, Sayaka was in the final round of Indonesia Open. But she had to surrender from an Indian counterpart, Saina Nehwal.

"This victory gains my confidence for the next tournament. This time, I will try to convince myself that I can do it this time, and not to repeat the failures seven years ago," said Sayaka.
