The unexpected pair from Japan, Inoue/Kaneko managed to reach the final round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 after beating the Chinese Taipei pair, Liao Min Chun/Su Ching Heng through a two-set match of 21-13, 21-11. On the final round, Inoue/Kaneko faced the top Indonesian pair, Marcus/Kevin, where the match was ended with a victory to Marcus/Kevin through a straight game of 21-13, 21-16 within the course of 31 Minutes.

The match was the fourth match between these two pairs, where the records between them stood at 4-0 lead to Marcus/Kevin’s advantage. Both pairs last saw each other during Daihatsu Yonex Japan Open 2017, where Marcus/Kevin won the match in Inoue/Kaneko’s home ground through a two-set match of 21-12, 21-15.

Inoue/Kaneko Praise the quality of Marcus/Kevin, who currently sit comfortably at the world’s No. 1 Rank. Inoue/Kaneko showed all their capabilities during the match, but Marcus/Kevin remains strong to the Japanese pair.

Looking at the game itself, I know that the opponent currently sits at the No. rank and we know well how they will play the game. But, on the field we could clearly see in which class the Indonesian pair belongs to, they are on a different level than us. We wanted to chase the points, but I was carried on by the atmosphere. So, there is more to learn for me” as stated by Yuki Kaneko during the press conference.

Admitting their weaknesses, the Japanese pair will try their best to keep up with Marcus/Gideon’s way of play as well as other top players’ game play.

For now, we are trying our best to step up our game,” Yuki Kaneko said.

The biggest objective for the Blibli Indonesia Open 2018 runner-up is to participate in the Tokyo Olympic 2020 where the event will be played in their home ground.

The objective is that want to keep it realistic, we may win in one game but we may also be inconsistent in other time. But, our main objective is to play our best in order to be able to participate in the Tokyo Olympic 2020.” Takuto Inoue added.
