Jakarta | The World’s No. 1 Men’s Singles player from Japan, Kento Momota has to head home early from Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 after beaten by the Chinese player, Huang Yu Xiang in a three-set match of 16-21, 21-11 and 18-21 that was held in Istora Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday (18/7).

Exiting the tournament in the second roun, Momot claims that he is disappointed as he could not defend the title in this year’s tournament. “Today I have shown everything I have. My target was actually to defend the title in this tournament, but the opponent seems to be more ready than I do, especially in terms of endurance,” said Kento Momota.

Endurance is the key factor that caused Momota to lose the match against Huang. Although unseeded, Huang performed very well by showing his attacking plays since the beginning of the match until the end of the match.

“I admit that Huang’s endurance is better than mine. I have tried my best to recover especially after left behind in the last set. Onwards, I will do a better preparation and this I will certainly revenge this loss in the coming Japan Open,” he said.

On the other hand, Huang Yu Xiang will play against the Thai Men’s Singles player, Kantaphon Wangcharoen in the quarter final of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. This will be the second match between Huang and Kantaphon. On the previous occasion, during Singapore Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 500, last April, Huang was beaten with the score of 16-21 and 19-21.
