Jakarta | The first win was grabbed by the Chinese Men’s Doubles pair, Lu Jun Hui/Liu Yu Chen during the opening game of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000. After facing a fierce resistance from the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik, Li/Liu finally beat them through a three-set match of 19-21, 21015 and 21-9 during the match that was held in Istora Senayan, Jakarta on Tuesday (16/7).

Although the World’s No. 2 Men’s Doubles pair managed to win the match, the pair had to face difficulties during the first set. “The shuttlecock is a bit lighter than usual, so it was a bit difficult for us as we were playing against the wind,” said Li Jun Hui after the match.

Furthermore, on the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Li/Liu would still have to wait whether they will play Lee Yang/Wang Chi Lin from Taiwan or Ricky Karanda Suwardi/Angga Pratama from Indonesia.

“Certainly our target for every match is to show our best, because each game has its own difficulties. Moreover, we also come here to collect points for the coming 2020 Olympics,” Liu Yu Chen Said In contrast, Li/Liu also revealed that the pair’s toughest opponent is the World’s No. 1 Men’s Doubles pair from Indonesia, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon. From the last 10 matches between these two pairs, Li/Liu has only beaten Kevin/Marcus twice.

Should both Li/Liu and Kevin/Marcus make it to the semifinal, then both of these pairs will see each other again for the eleventh time. “Certainly the toughest pair by far is Kevin/Marcus,” He added.
