Jakarta | Although still in the first round, the Indonesian Men’s Doubles player, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan have immediately faced a fierce battle from the English pair, Marcus Ellis/Chris Langridge. Playing in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/7), The Daddies fianally won the match with the final score of 28-26 and 21-17 over Ellis/Langride and secure a spot in the Round of 16 of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 at once.

“Today’s match was not easy for us. We didn’t play really well today. We focused only on how to get points from the opponent and how to play all-out,” said Mohammad Ahsan during the press conference after the match.

The battle between these two Men’s Doubles pairs was very fierce. Hendra/Ahsan was close to losing the first set when they were left at 18-20 score. However, due to the abundant experience and the high miles that the World’s No. 4 Men’s Doubles pair has, a loss was avoided.

The first set victory helped The Daddies to boost their confidence in the second set. Hence, Hendra/Ahsan finally ended the journey of the recent winner of the 2019 European Games in this tournament.

“During the first set, we rushed our plays to score points; hence we didn’t get the right feel to the game. It was difficult to get points from the opponent. But on the second set we were a bit calmer,” said Hendra.

“Our evaluation to our game today is that we didn’t play it calmly, so tomorrow we have to be calmer,” he added.

This sweet result means that Hendra/Ahsan is following Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pangkaryanira/Ade Yusuf Santoso and Angga Pratama/Ricky Karanda Suwardi steps to the Round of 16 of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000.
