Jakarta | Despite having just landed in Indonesia on Monday (15/7), the Women’s Singles player from Canada, Michelle Li is able to beat the South Korean player, Sung Ji Hyun in the first round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000 on Tuesday (16/7). Playing in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Michelle won the three-set match with the score of 21-12, 14-21 and 21-17

"I think luck plays a big role in today’s victory. I have just landed Yesterday and still under jet lag. This is my first match and I think it is going well, I am very happy with today’s result,” said Michelle Li to Djarumbadminton.com.

Michelle also claims that Sung Ji Hyun was not on her best condition. “I think she didn’t play with a 100% condition today. And maybe both of us were trying so hard to reduce unforced errors,” she said.

Sailing to the second round of Blibli Indonesia Open 2019 BWF World Tour Super 1000, Michelle Li will face the Thai Women’s Singles player, Nitchaon Jindapol who beat the English player, Chloe Birch through a two-set match of 21-6 and 21-15.

“Maybe I will immediately get some rest and maintain my condition for tomorrow’s match, because I have just landed yesterday from the U.S. Open and I really am still under jet lag. So I really have to get some rest,” she said.

Michelle claims that she receives an additional positive energy from the support of the public in Istora for today’s match. “I am very happy and proud to able to play here, in Istora with a lot of supporters that come and support me. I think that helped me to gain more positive energy,” she added.
