Not only Gregoria Mariska who succeeded in getting revenge for her defeat from China's Chen Yufei in the first round of the BCA Indonesia Open (BIO) Superseries Premier 2017, Tuesday morning (13/6), but also the women's singles athlete Fitriani who got her revenge from Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi.

Fitriani finally beat Cheung for the first time with 21-16, 16-21 and 21-15. Fitriani had always lost from Cheung in their previous two encounters; at the 2015 Macau Open and 2016 Uber Cup.

"So happy to grab my first victory over Cheung since this is one of my targets for this BIO. The key to success lies in the first game, I tried to play long balls. In the second game, the wind was against me and I did blunders because I was in a rush," said Fitriani.

"I was more patient in the third game, I was more anticipated and having my feet fast paced. Praise to Allah, I could win," she added.

In the second round, Fitriani will take on Korea's fifth seeded, Sung Ji Hyun.

"For the next match, I will face more seeded and superior opponents, but I will not give up the fight before the battle. My opponent’s posture are taller, so I must be ready to anticipate attacks," Fitriani concluded.
