In the first game on Wednesday (14/6), Hendra / Tan were forced to play rubber game by Japanese pair, Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabae at JCC Plenary Hall, Jakarta.
It took one hour and twelve minutes for Hendra / Tan to conquer their opponent. Although they lost the first game, they could win the last two games through setting duel. Hendra/Tan won, 10-21, 26-24 and 23-21.
"The opponents are also young players yet they are good. We are also [hit] by fatigue but there was also luck factor plus the opponents made blunders," said Hendra.
"Surprisingly, we rarely practiced together. If we practiced together more often we could have been more solid," he added.
Chinese third seed Li Junhui / Liu Yuchen will be Hendra/Tan's contestants in the second round on Thursday (15/6). There has been no record on the both sides in previous matches, and this will be the first time for the pair.
"Tomorrow we will face the Chinese pair, we should be more ready. Now the competition is equal, so anyone can win because world's rank does not affect that much," ended Hendra.
