Overcoming Tai Tzu Ying, Lindaweni Qualifies For Quarter Final

Taking off from the qualifying round, Lindaweni Fanetri steps further to the BCA Indonesia Open Super Series Premier (BIO) 2015 quarter final. She crushed Taiwanese fourth seeded, Tai Tzu Ying, 21-18, 22-20 Senayan indoor sporting arena, Jakarta, Thursday (4/6).

Winning the match in 45 minutes, Lindaweni is happy. Especially, in the last encounter at Taiwan Open 2012, Lindaweni suffered a bitter defeat, 19-21, 22-20 and 20-22.

“I have met Tzu Ying and I lost. Now I win the match, surely it is a joy," Lindaweni said who is currently placing world's 36 ranking.

She addressed Tzu Ying's way of playing is offensive. As a result, she had to handle it with speed and mean defense. Moreover, Tzu Ying's world's ranking is way above her, which is comfortably on the world's 4th.

“I just tried to maintain focus, that is true when her world's ranking is way above me," She expressed.

Technically, Lindaweni explained, had she was lacking of pace and her movement was weaker than Tzu Ying, she would have been lost.

Lindaweni will take on the Thailand's sixth seeded Ratchanok. When asked about the strategy she is to use against Intanon in a journey to semifinal, she said she had to discuss it first with her coach.

Lindaweni and Intanon have previously met thrice. However, Intanon left nothing for Lindaweni's victory record over her. The last time, they both fought at Singapura Open 2015 where Intanon stunned her, 21-10, 21-15.

Intanon moves forward to the next round after crushing compatriot Busanan Ongbumrungpan, in 48 minute match, she won 21-16, 21-19.

Lindaweni has become the second Indonesian women's singles athlete to go to quarter final. Maria Febe Kusumastuti had her ticket to quarter final after stunning Yip Pui Yin 21-17, 21-4.
