The world's number mixed doubles, Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen, fail to repeat their success in overcoming Indonesia's best mixed doubles, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir.

After they succeeded in overcoming Tontowi/Liliyana at the 2014 China Open with 21-18 and 21-15, Zheng/Chen could not defeat the 206 Rio Olympic gold medalist in front of the home supporters.

Zheng/Chen had to lose in the final round of the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2017 from Tontowi/Liliyana in two straight games, 20-22 and 15-21 on Sunday (18/6).

"I feel that the match was not good and the opponent's strategy was better. We lost the in the crucial first game. We performed better in the second game but we had to lose somehow," said Zheng.

"It was a bit affecting us when the crowds supported the Indonesian pair, it felt like the ground was shaking. We tried to focus on the match," Zheng added.

Meanwhile, Chen said the defeat was caused by blunders.

"I think my physical condition was still OK. But mixed doubles matches are more exhausting. Beside, we made own mistakes in the match," said Chen. "The Indonesia pair played with well organization while us was a mess,” he ended.
